Swenson Red was bred in the USA by Elmer Swenson. It is a vigorous shrub well suited for covering large garden structures such as arbors and pergolas. Ripening period: Early, 115-120 days, ripening in late August – early September (depending on the region). Berry color: Red to blue-red, can vary from translucent pinkish-green to deep red depending on climate. Pleasant, with a bright, fruity aroma of strawberry, raspberry, or pineapple. Light notes of labrusca are present.
Berry size: Large, uneven in size (average 3-5 g), with firm flesh and thin skin. Clusters: Large, moderately dense, averaging 250-500 g. -32-35°C.
